The "most insanely detailed" picture of Earth's lunar neighbour was shot over the course of two years by two astrophotographers.

It was just published in an astounding new article on Aviral.

The 174-megapixel photo was initially shared on Reddit on Saturday, and it depicts the moon's hues, craters, and luminous aura in exquisite detail. 

 Famous astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy connected with planetary scientist and fellow photographer .

Connor Matherne on social media platforms like Reddit and Instagram to create jaw-dropping images of galaxies and nebulae.

These two had previously collaborated to produce a stunningly vivid and bright picture of the moon.
