The California beach dream home is turning into a nightmare as the ocean levels rise.

Tyree Johnson cherished his apartment's view of the Pacific Ocean until it began to fall into the water.

He had a back patio where he could watch sunsets over the sea for 15 years in Pacifica, a little town outside San Francisco.

Dolphin pods passed past, and hang gliders floated above.

All that beauty, however, came with a risk: the ocean below was eating away at the bluffs, which were deteriorating.

He said that it "simply started giving way" in the previous year.
It didn't happen gradually.

Around 4:30 in the morning, he was startled by a loud noise that was actually the ground giving way a few doors below.
