After delays due to COVID-19 issues, NASCAR has revealed intentions to convert the two-mile long superspeedway Auto Club Speedway into a short course.
From the ashes of the announcement, one terrible fatality has emerged: CalSpeed Karting is departing Auto Club Speedway after 19 years.
The top karting track in Southern California is CalSpeed. Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, and Jenson Button are among the semi-regular Formula 1 drivers at the parking lot circuit,
where the majority of top-level professional and amateur karting takes place.
At the track, every level of karting is represented, and on any given weekend, spectators may witness racing ranging from entry-level kids' karts through rental kart racing,
the local Los Angeles Karting Championship, Rotax, and internal rental kart championships.
