The Army's New 9mm Submachine Guns Are Ready to Assist in the Protection of VIPs

The United States Army has finished deploying 315 brand new 9x19mm APC9K submachine guns made in Switzerland and has no intentions to acquire any more.

The military originally declared that it will be purchasing the firearms, known as Sub Compact Weapons (SCWs), in 2019.

On March 29, 2019, the Army made the first announcement that it had awarded the SCW contract to the American subsidiary of Swiss gunmaker B&T.

More than $2.5 million was exchanged for the first batch of up to 350 firearms and the option to acquire an additional 750 guns.

The U.S. Air Force has also declared that it would buy 65 APC9Ks in 2020, using the Army's deal as a basis for its purchase.

The first systems were deployed to personnel security branch [PSB] troops in May 2019.
