The Dallas Cowboys released rookie wide receiver Dennis Houston on Tuesday. A day or so later, he returned to the group.
This Wednesday afternoon, Houston was added to the Cowboys' practise squad after clearing waivers. The Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken broke the news first.
Houston, a rookie out of Western Illinois who went undrafted, was named to the FCS All-American Third Team and the First Team All-MVFC in 2021.
His collegiate football career came to an end with 90 receptions for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns.
Houston played 60 snaps in the Cowboys' first two regular-season games. He gained 16 yards on two receptions.
Mike McCarthy's team gains a valuable insurance policy from Houston's return to Dallas in case they require assistance at wide out later in the year.
