NFL fans respond to Jimmy Garoppolo's declaration

Jimmy Garoppolo had reached an agreement on a restructured contract for the 2018 NFL season after months of attempting to locate a trade for him.

It is hoped that the Trey Lance era will start without the need for Jimmy G to fill in at backup quarterback thanks to his new deal,

which will make him the highest-paid backup quarterback in the NFL. This season, Garoppolo's basic pay will decrease to $6.5 million,

but he could earn up to $10 million in incentives if he plays and/or starts again.

The agreement also includes no-trade and no-tag clauses, so unless a trade opportunity that both parties agreed to occurs first,

Garoppolo is likely to stay in San Francisco through the current season before departing in 2023.
