NASCAR responds to Joe Gibbs Racing's significant choice

As he works to put his teams in the best possible position to compete in the Cup Series playoffs, NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs made a very significant move on Monday.

Starting this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Joe Gibbs Racing has opted to switch over the pit crews for the Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin vehicles.

Beginning in Texas, Joe Gibbs Racing will switch the over-the-wall pit crews for Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, according to a Monday report by Bob Pockrass.

Busch is now in 14th position but has already been eliminated from the playoffs, while Hamlin is currently in sixth place in the Cup Series standings.

In the second round of the playoffs, Hamlin is still alive. From a tactical standpoint, it makes sense to try to give Hamlin the few additional seconds he could need to move

close to the No. 1 slot in the standings given that Busch's crew has a little superior average time on pit stops.
