MLB Game Paused Last Night for Interesting Reason

Last night's game between the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Guardians was suspended as manager Rocco Baldelli requested a foreign drug test on Cleveland Guardians pitcher James Karinchak.

After observing Karinchak raking his hands through his hair before each pitch, Baldelli asked for a check.

Karinchak's hair contained no extraneous objects, according to the home-plate umpire.

Baldelli was obviously quite upset about what he saw to be cheating by the Twins right-hander. He claimed that he felt compelled to denounce it.

According to John Shipley of the Pioneer Press, Baldelli remarked during the game, "I think I have a commitment to our players and to our club to do what I think is right."

And I think it would have been difficult for me and the group as a whole to watch their pitcher behave in the manner he does on the mound in an apparent attempt to change certain things.
