MLB Fires Longtime Baseball Operations President today

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Royals dismissed Dayton Moore as their president of baseball operations.

Moore, who joined the club in 2006, will depart the organisation, according to owner John Sherman. The baseball operations in Kansas City will be taken up by J.J. Picollo.

Moore told Andy McCullough and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, "I'm incredibly grateful for the chance. "I'm proud of Kansas City's culture and accomplishments.

I regret that we were unable to complete it. However, I am certain that John Sherman, J.J. Picollo, and the entire baseball operations division will bring it to a successful conclusion."

The Royals returned the next year to win the World Series after losing to the San Francisco Giants in Game 7 of the previous season.

The franchise has only made two postseason appearances since winning its first title in 1985, though.
