Miami Fires Don Mattingly; MLB World Reacts

Mattingly and the Marlins have amicably decided to split ways at the end of the season, as was originally reported by the Miami Herald.

Since the former Los Angeles Dodgers manager joined the organization in 2016, Miami has a.428 winning percentage. The only time Mattingly guided the Marlins to a winning record

or playoff berth was during the truncated 2020 season, when they went 31-29 and qualified for the expanded postseason.

Thus, it felt like a good time for a change, although Donnie Baseball may not be entirely to blame for the team's problems.

Additionally, Mattingly seemed to have a lasting impression on the media that covered the squad.

Barry Jackson of the Herald commented, "Don Mattingly offered among the most sincere and substantial responses of any coach or manager in 36 years of covering sports here."
