In first comment since queen's death, Prince William remembers "Grannie"

Much would be written and spoken in the coming days, he predicted, about the significance of her historic reign.

As much as I miss her, I am so thankful for the time we had together.
I'm in my 50s now, and I've benefited from The Queen's guidance and confidence the whole way."

He remarked, "She needs to spend the holidays with my three children so they can make memories that will last a lifetime."

"She was always there for me when things were looking up.
And she was there for me when I was at my lowest "The author put pen to paper.

Even though I've prepared myself for this day, it will be a while before the emptiness left by Grannie's passing hits me square in the face.

He thanked her for being so gracious to him and his family, and for setting "an example of duty and respect in public life that was from a different age, but always relevant to us all."
