If you have a garden, can you use coffee grounds as fertiliser?

Green-fingered people are inspired by the concept of returning used coffee to the planet.

But, is it a good idea to use coffee grounds as fertiliser? Is it time for you to throw out your coffee grounds and join the java jolt?

Starbucks has a long tradition of donating used coffee grounds to Seattle area gardeners on a first-come, first-served basis.

This programme helped the company carry out its stated objective of "active environmental stewardship" among the areas in which it operates.

Local stewardship soon extended over the whole continent of North America.

It's tempting to just throw them into your garden, worm bin, or compost pile to avoid throwing them away.
