FTC probes Amazon's $3.9B One Medical acquisition

Amazon's $3.9 billion purchase of One Medical might be delayed by the FTC.

Both One Medical and Amazon were asked for further information by the FTC on Friday, according to a filing by One Medical's parent company, 1Life Healthcare Inc.

Amazon wants to purchase One Medical, a concierge medical service with 190 locations in 25 regions. Amazon Care, a One Medical rival, closed last week because it wasn't satisfying consumers' demands.

The One Medical agreement was Amazon's first under CEO Andy Jassy and followed its $750 million acquisition of PillPack in 2018. Antitrust groups petitioned the FTC to ban the merger,

saying it would increase the company's market dominance.
The FTC has subpoenaed Amazon Prime's sign-up and cancellation procedures.

Last year, the corporation urged FTC Chair Lina Khan to stand away from antitrust probes into its operations. Before becoming chairman, Khan criticised Seattle-based Amazon and other tech giants.
