The NASCAR Cup Series champion said he would be interested in competing in the Indianapolis 500 when it was revealed that Kyle Busch will be driving the #8 for Richard Childress Racing.
Busch sent out a call saying, "By all means, any IndyCar teams that are Chevrolet, hit me up,"
noting that it is in his RCR contract that he may race at Indy with a Chevy IndyCar team as a result of switching to Chevrolet.
IndyCar's leading team is Arrow McLaren. Pato O'Ward and Felix Rosenqvist, the team's full-time drivers, finished second and fourth, respectively, in this year's Indianapolis 500,
while Juan Pablo Montoya, who was competing on a limited schedule, finished 11th. According to Schmidt's analysis,
Busch competing in both the Coca-Cola 600 and the Indy 500 on the same day will be advantageous for both his team and both series.
