Duke volleyball player reportedly slurred during game

BYU says a Duke volleyball player was racially assaulted by a spectator during Friday's game in Utah.

The non-student was recognised by Duke during the game, BYU said. The fan is banned from all BYU venues.

BYU stated it was "very saddened" by the conduct of a tiny number of spectators during Friday night's volleyball game. "This is unacceptable.

We apologise to Duke and its athletes for yesterday night's events."

Black Duke sophomore Rachel Richardson allegedly received racist remarks. Former Texas county prosecutor Lesa Pamplin, Richardson's godmother, claimed she heard the slur "every time she served"

"A white guy threatened her as she walked to the team bus. They needed a police officer near their bench "Tweeted Pamplin. Nobody protected her.
