Driver penalised by NASCAR for Bristol offence in the playoffs

A pit stop gone wrong during the race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday has cost Ryan Blaney dearly.

For breaking the regulations, Team Penske's crew chief Jonathan Hassler, jackman Graham Stoddard, and rear tyre changer Zachary Price will be out of competition for the next four races,

NASCAR confirmed on Tuesday. Early in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, the No. 12 Ford suffered a wheel loss.

After making a pit stop on lap 93, Blaney's left rear wheel broke free and skidded down pit road as he exited his pit stall.

Despite finishing 30th at Bristol, Blaney was still able to advance to the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Playoffs. Before the race at Texas Motor Speedway the following weekend,

he is now sixth in the standings. The NASCAR Playoffs leader, Chase Elliott, is 27 points ahead of the 28-year-old racer.
