Detailed accounting of LIV Golf Chicago prize payments

Cameron Smith won the LIV Golf Invitational Series event near Chicago, and five players ended T-44 in last place, 19 strokes down. They will each receive $124,000 as compensation for their work.

That is the selling pitch for the new series, which is run by Greg Norman and funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia: 54-hole, no-cut competitions with enormous contracts and payouts.

Smith carried over his PGA Tour form to LIV, placing T-4 in his opening round at LIV Golf Boston

and taking this week's victory at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois, by a two-shot margin over Dustin Johnson and Peter Uihlein.

Smith won three times on the PGA Tour last year, earning $1.476 million for the Sentry Tournament of Champions, $2.5 million for the British Open,

and $3.6 million for the Players Championship. Smith's $4 million paycheck surpasses his three victories.
