College football responds to playoff news

College Football Playoff expansion conversations were put on hold while league realignment took root in recent months. Now, university presidents are taking leadership of the issue.

According to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated, the College Football Playoff's highest-ranking governing committee will decide on expansion as early as 2024.

A group of 11 university presidents, one from each FBS conference and Notre Dame, is taking things into their own hands after league commissioners couldn't agree on a future playoff arrangement.

Dellenger says that a 12-team playoff is the favoured despite talk of increasing to 16.

The collegiate football world responded to the stunning information on Twitter as the 2022-23 season began.

Expanding the playoff before 2025 would need a unanimous decision. It's possible.
