Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, blamed the Arizona Cardinals' playing surface for injuries to cornerback Trent McDuffie
and kicker Harrison Butker during Sunday's season-opening game against the Cardinals. Arizona, though, is disputing that the field conditions had anything to do with it a day later.
Reid asserted that the recent resodding of the entire field was the cause of the turf becoming "loose."
According to a Cardinals official, the field had plenty of time to establish itself after being reseeded and should not have been loose.
According to Cardinals spokesperson Mark Dalton, "the entire field was redone on Monday, August 22nd — the day after the last home preseason game vs. Baltimore
so it had it almost three full weeks before the Week One game against. Kansas City.
