Buckingham Palace reveals King Charles's work photo

New state portraits of King Charles III in his first days at Buckingham Palace have been released.

The monarch is seen in the photo opening his official red box, which includes papers from the British government and the Commonwealth.

The shot was taken in front of a portrait of his late parents, Elizabeth and Philip.

She and her husband had given to George VI in 1951 (the year before she became queen).

Each queen is presented with a distinctive red box by their personal secretary, and Queen Elizabeth II was often seen in public with hers.

Three days after Elizabeth's death, this picture was shot in the Eighteenth Century Room at Buckingham Palace.
