The remainder of the season, Bubba Wallace will be the No. 45 driver, 23XI Racing announced on Wednesday.
The decision was made because the No. 45, which was formerly driven by Kurt Busch and is currently being driven by Ty Gibbs due to Busch's injury, is contending for the Cup owner's championship.
Busch's victory at Kansas in May has been used to qualify the vehicle in the past. Wallace will continue to work alongside the crew's leader, Bootie Barker.
Team president Steve Lauletta stated in a statement that the choice was taken "in the best interest of the whole business
and for all our employees who helped win a berth in the playoffs for the owner's championship via their hard work."
