Luke Bell, a well-known singer-songwriter in the neo-traditional country genre, was discovered dead on August 26 after going missing a few days earlier, according to Today.
He was 32. Bell was last seen in Tucson, Arizona, on August 20. He was later discovered close to that location.
Bell abandoned their truck when he stopped for food in Tucson, according to his friend and fellow musician Matt Kinman, who wrote about it on the blog Saving Country Music.
Kinman reported that Bell had recently changed his bipolar disorder medication. According to police, an investigation is still ongoing.
Bell gained notoriety after releasing his third album under his own name on the independent Thirty Tigers label in Nashville in 2016.
Bell didn't go on many tours, but he was able to open for Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam. In January 2021, he last issued the single "Jealous Guy."
