5 young boys are detained by Philadelphia police after a gunshot in Center City.

(CBS) PHILADELPHIA According to Philadelphia police, they detained five male juveniles on Sunday after responding to complaints of gunfire in Center City.

According to authorities, the incident took at around 5:45 p.m. in the Fashion District around 10th and Market Streets.

Police commissioner Danielle Outlaw tweeted that police heard many gunshots in the vicinity of 10th and Market Streets. Officers subsequently sprinted in the direction of the gunfire 

and caught a child at 9th and Chestnut Streets. According to Outlaw, the male allegedly dropped a bag containing a gun.

According to Outlaw, a second juvenile was caught in possession of a pistol with an extended magazine.

Outlaw stated on Twitter that anyone who engage in aggressive behaviour "will be caught; our citizens and tourists won't be frightened, and our cops won't be discouraged."
