Running back Trey Sermon was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft just over a year ago.
Sermon had a difficult time having an impact during his debut season after being drafted. He observed as Elijah Mitchell, another rookie, assumed the starting position.
Sermon was apparently enjoying a good training camp after a disappointing season. At some point, he was added to the 53-man roster, although that didn't last long.
Now searching for a new team is the former Ohio State standout. The 49ers dismissed Sermon, according to a report from ESPN NFL insider Field Yates.
Sermon's offseason was a success, according to 49ers general manager John Lynch earlier this offseason.
He put in a tonne of effort and had a fantastic offseason, according to Lynch. Although he hasn't participated in any games, he has been among our finest players during training camp.
