The death of a former player who died away earlier this week is being lamented by the baseball community.
According to some accounts, John Stearns, a four-time All-Star with the New York Mets, passed suddenly on Thursday. Age-wise, he was 71.
"John Stearns is no longer with us. All-Star four times, adored Met. RIP. 71, "Jon Heyman, an MLB insider, stated on Twitter.
In college, Stearns competed in two sports and was selected by the MLB and NFL.
He ultimately decided on baseball and played just one game with the Philadelphia Phillies before being sent to the New York Mets.
He continued to have a fantastic career and was invited to the All-Star game four times. We are praying for the Stearns family.
