24 years for ringleader of China's shocking restaurant assault on women

In a case that shook the nation and caused public fury about violence against women, a Chinese man was sentenced to 24 years in jail for his prominent part .

A fifth suspect was convicted of intimidating a victim into not reporting the crime to authorities.

The court found that Chen was the mastermind behind a slew of heinous acts performed over the course of a decade.


A total of 320,000 Yuan was levied on him after he was found guilty on counts of "picking quarrels and instigating disturbance," "robbery," "opening casinos," .

In addition to those two, the court also handed out jail sentences ranging from six months to eleven years to another twenty-seven offenders.

Two of the ladies had "second-degree minor injuries," while the other two had "slight injuries," as determined by the court.
