16-year-old Za'Lill D'Chelle Patterson opened fire inside Northpark Mall in Ridgeland, Mississippi, on Sept. 17. Patterson grabbed a revolver after being
caught shoplifting at 5:20 p.m., according to CBS 42. The business owner shot Patterson in self-defense, according to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers.
Gunshots prompted fear in the mall. A father and kid were spending time together as the boy tried on his first Jordans. When the father started filming, gunfire rang out. They hid in a shop.
WJTV claimed that mall customers, including parents with children and the elderly, ran for their lives.
Patterson was taken to a hospital before being charged for aggravated assault with a weapon. Teen charged as an adult. Myers said the business owner was cooperating with authorities.
